The first step of becoming a police officer is making sure you want to be a police officer!. You have to weigh in all the good and all the bad and trust that there are alot of bad. Being a cop means that your gonna get paid as much as most mechanics get paid when they first start their career witch is not bad money but when you add in the fact that you may be killed on the job then that really kills the image. Next you have to understand that the job is VERY stressfull and most cops usually get divorced or almost never get married because they bring that stress into their regular life. On top of that the hours are crazy and isn't easy getting use to. Then the lac of disrespect you get, followed by the average benefits you get, and how hard it is to be promoted and get raises i mean it makes it look like a no brainer to look for another job. But the thing is that even tho all of that is true i still wouldn't mind being a cop because of the love i have for it. The only reason why i am not a cop now to tell you the truth is because im making way over 70k a year off of being a mechanic and working real estate part time so going to become a cop wouldn't really make sense as far as finances go. And on top of that i have a felony charge on my record too but even that wont be able to stop me because i can and will be filing for a clemency pardon witch im sure that i will be granted it. So at the end of the day you have to way in alot and if you still decide to be a cop CONGRADULATIONS! and that's from the bottom of my heart because i have a deep respect for people on the police force and for people that are a part of the arm forces. Next step is to go down to your local police station and ask them for a application. Now you have to be a resident of that state and you have to be a citizen. You cannot have a felony on your record(in most states anyways) not even a mistemeanor because that alone can cause your application to be denied. (NOTE: GETTING SOMETHING EXPUNGED WILL NOT HELP YOU EITHER BECAUSE THEY CAN STILL SEE IT AND YOU WILL BE DENIED EMPLOYEMENT. YOU HAVE TO GET A GOVENERS PARDON TO BE A COP WITH A FELONY ON YOUR RECORD AND THAT IS SOMETHING VERY VERY HARD TO GET). Next you will go thrue a very extensive background check and investigation, followed by a polygraph test, physical, and mental exam. Then you will have to go to the accademy for about a year or so and graduate. If your under 21 you wont be able to become a cop but they will put you as a intake officer or a correctional officer to gain experience witch is very helpful. After that you will be required to pass a obstical course, and a gun rang exam. Then when you turn 21 you will be trained on the field by a field officer and after a few months to a year you will be a full fledged police officer. I left out alot of things too lol Good luck tho and feel free to drop me a line on my page if you need anything else because i know ALOT when it comes to this. (mainly because i have 3 very close friends of mines who are cops, two friends who are attournys and a sister that works in the D.A.'s office.). Take care and good luck

If a police officer ever pulls you over and asks you do to this, you should do that. When they say to step out, you should. If you don't, they could give you an extra ticket for that.
Call the police station and speak to an officer about it. If the step-father is threatening the children he can be removed and not the children.
