How did pirates dress?

long skirts, dark and somewhat light colors (dark orange, red, black, blue), bandanas, jewelrey (same reason for boys)

most pirates wore hats with a bandanna the hats hem days was called tri corn hat/tricorne hat,they also used to wear and eye patch piece some people just think its for decoration but its actually because they had an injury on there eye in pirate times they used to wear clothes out of wool,leather and canvas,and last but no least pirates wore there belts diagonaly becase that was the fashion them days

Actually, many pirates wore eye patches during the day so that they could see with that eye at night. One eye would compensate for the other at all times.

Pirates wear: Hats: hats such as tricorns or hats with feathers. Or any hat they can steal. Bandanas: a piece of cloth of any colour wrapped aroud a pirate's head.(Allows hair to still be visable.) Shirt: Usually a white long sleeved shirt with billowing sleeves. Vest: Usually a dark coloured vest over their shirt. Greatcoat: A long coat that is so long it goes down to your knees. Pants: Any pants, usually dark coloured. Belt: Belt in which a pirate's sword and various other items are hung from. Boots which are seaworthy. Various jewelly.

RRRRRRrrrrrr, peg legs, and eye patches!Pirates would wear whatever they could get their hands on. During the age of piracy, there were laws put in place limiting what clothes people could wear. These laws were created to differentiate the upper class and peasants. When pirates would raid boats some of the most sought off items were high class clothing. The pirates would then hold a small "auction" and the pirates would bid on the clothing. The proceeds would often go to the ships "maintenance" but would often end up in the pocket of the captain.

One of the reasons pirates are often pictured in "clashing" outfits is because they very rarely were able to buy a whole outfit in the "auction".

Pirates would usually only wear there "prizes" out about town because wearing them aboard the ships was very impractical.

The pirates' shoes were called boots. Buccaneer boots, to be precise. Sometimes the boots were knee-length, and they always wore AARRGHyle socks(!) But on deck and ratlines, barefoot was best for grip. The boots were worn while robbing and pillaging, when a pirate has to protect his (or her) feet from falling cannonballs and other such undesirable mishaps.
