Laws affect people in a myriad of different ways. Laws can control entire societies, inevitably affecting their way of thinking. Laws can also make people feel safe. They can like the control, or dislike it.

Law is a set of rules and regulations imposed and enforced by the sovereign. Actually law does not affect the lives. Law is made to keep people's life in discipline. Law affects the lives of only those people who wanna do illegal or bad things. The peace loving people are least affected by the law. Law makes their lives easy and safe. So instead of blaming the law for affecting lives we should take it positively.

Society would have you believe it the king or queen. But this is only true for those subjected to him or her, ie: "subjects".

We are all sovereign, yet through application, submission and registration (including licensing) we take ourselves down to the level of slave.

Slavery is UNLAWFUL, but it is not illegal.

The truth lies in the definitions of:

The government can take your kids, which is by all counts unlawful, if not INHUMANE, however, you registered their birth, did you not? (birth certificate)

By doing so, you gave the registration owner (births, deaths and marriages office/government or similar) rightful claim to that piece of paper which you believe is the same as the actual existence of your child, thus IS your child and thus they can LEGALLY act as such!

If person A struck person B without warning, that is an illegal act of assault.

If person A states their intentions to person B and also provides remedy in those intentions for recourse or default, if person B does not reject this offer, person A may legally strike person B.

I tell you this - if your not part of the Law Society, then Acts & Statutes passed by local governments do not apply to you, unless you consent to them, by consenting to being governed.

The original answer is spot on, yet shallow and nowhere near whole, although, neither is this one.

Laws have a massive impact on peoples life. You might never have thought about it but laws, food and sex is what drive people to do or not do what ever we do.

If you want to understand how a specific law affects our lives, just read it and see what it prohibits us from doing.

For instance a thousand years ago there existed no laws and only Survival of the fittest was what mattered. Back then you could kill or rape anyone and noone was to say that it was either good or bad. People did what they had to do to survive.

Now on the other hand there are laws against this, saying that it is bad and that you will get sent to prison if you do this. If these laws didn't exist there would be noone to decide over you exepet your own personal values and you could do whatever you want.

Laws affect a community in both positive and negative ways. Depending on what laws they are, their importance in their role of keeping the peace, and how they are enforced will determine whether or not they affect the community in a more positive way, or a more negative way.

For example, if the law is "no tigers chained in public after 7:00pm" and it is an urban community with no tigers, the law is obviously irrelevant and would not affect a community positively.

However, if the same law is put into use in a primitive jungle community where tigers are considered domestic pets, then the law obviously carries a lot of weight and is necessary.

Additional factors affect the positivity and negativity of laws in a community, such as the way they are enforced. Extreme discipline of a minor, accidental occurance of a misdemeanor is not healthy for a community. If someone is a murderer, they need to be put away, but not if someone accidentally ran their car into a stop sign.

The most important things to get out of this are:
