A greater achievement for mankind is the act of writing one's own experiences and recording them into human memory. All social upheavals consist of long-awaited effects of slow-building causes, and the people that work through them learn lessons in the process. The only way those lessons may transmit to future generations is by literature. So Milton's view could be interpreted to be relevant today, considering the cyclic events today's world is currently enveloped in.
