I have a shipping container that I shipped to cebu. They asked me if there were any firearms in the container and I truthfully told them there was a small 22 cal. pistol that I had intended for my own protection and was going to get a lisence and permit for it. They said that if I gave a letter of declaration that I made a mistake and would forfeit the gun it could be settled. However I got a call from the broker and was told that they had changed thier minds. My broker then backed out and I got another broker and they said that they could negociate a deal for me. The outcome was that the customs wanted 300,000 pesos for its release. The contents was only worth about $2000. The broker said I could abandon the container but might be charged when they opened the container for the gun. I came back to the U>S shortly because of getting biten by a mosquito and was in the hospital for 5 days, after which as soon as I got back to calif. I had a heart attack and was in intensive care for 4 days and had a stent put in my heart,so it has been hard to get anything done sooner. Is there anyway I can file charges against the customs or the brokers? Thank you Jack
