If the certificate of incorporation, or authority, (or whatever your state calls it) has expired or has been surrendered or, withdrawn you will have to re-file all over again just as if you you were beginning anew.

If the certificate has simply become inactive, a notification to the issuing authority along with documentation of the new trustees should suffice,.

This is not meant to be a universal answer inasmuch as the laws and regulations governing these types of organizations can vary widely from state-to-state.
