firstly,look at the top of the heater,it should have a dial.Depending on what fish you have got twist the dial until its got the right temp up then fix it to the side of the tank and plug it in. Now your done hope this helps!

My advice is to buy or borrow a good book on how to do it properly and do exactly as advised/directed in the book. There's far too much info required to be able to instruct you correctly here.I recomend watching a clip on youtube called setting up a fish tank
