well if you mean how does unemployment affect crime it is because everyone is out of a job so they cant feed their family and if they cant feed their family they cant feed themselves so they have only a couple options either crime, unemployment offices, (which i think doesnt do anything for American citizens) or they could apply for a job and hope for the best.
Also some people might think crime is a better option for financial gain and become involved in criminal activities rather than stay unemployed.
