A murder case is handled from a process standpoint the same way as any other felony. The technical details are the same, though the stakes for both the prosecution and the defense are much higher. The investigation, arrest, pretrial and trial follow the same process. There is a saying that, from a legal stand point and how a case proceeds that a murder is the same as a battery, but the victim has died.
