I believe it's 72 hours in the U.S.

The Police may detain you for 48 hours w/o a warrant and 72 hours with a warrant. The perpetrator must be brought before a Judge within 72 hours to be formally advised of his rights and the charge(s) against them. Bond may or may not be set at that hearing, also known as First Appearance.

Is it legal for police to take a minor to the police station without being arrested?

Yes it is legal for an officer to take a minor to a police station without being arrested. This is called detainment. They are allowed to hold you for a period of unknown time, as every city and state is different. Usually 24 to 48 hours. However, if the minor is not being arrested and is being detained the officer must have probable cause to detain, such as possible runnaway or domestic violence, shoplifting etc. Usually the officer will call a parent or guardian to have them picked up from the police station if the minor cooperates and gives the contact information to the officer. But yes detainment is common.

Can a police officer from one state see your history of bench warrant issued in different state if your a minor?

If you have a warrant and it was entered into NCIC or your state's system (FCIC in Florida for an example) than any other law enforcement agency can pull it up nation wide regardless of you being a minor. They can hold you until they get a confirmation back from the originating agency saying they will or will not extradite you. If the originating agency will not extradite you and the officer has no charges of their own, you will be released and not booked. If they will extradite and/or the officer has their own charges on you, then you will be arrested.

How long can the police legally hold your car for investigation?

What is the procedure to have charges dropped?

It depends on the nature of the offence as to whether charges can be dropped. For example I had a friend that got stabbed off a random person. She initially pressed charges, and the cps picked up the case for crown court as there were lots of evidence. She changed her mind due to the random guy being a bit of a head case, but it had already gone past the police and was with the crown prosecution service. She was told if she didn't attend court they would hold her in contempt and she would face charges herself! However, if its a minor offence, and only recently been given to the police, you can ask to change your statement or withdraw it completly. You will need to ring your designated officer immediatly. Good luck :o)

How long can police hold a person in Juneau county jail Wisconsin without charges?

What are you being "held" for? If you are going to be charged and arraigned the time limit is governed by constitutional law. If you are being helf for extradition, then there is no statutory time limit.... as long as the extraditing state is in the process of removing you.

Can someone be held on a parole hold if there are no charges?

Yes. If the person was on parole at the time they were taken into custody by authorities he or she can be detained until it is decided if they have violated the terms of their parole or probation. Typically, a parole hold can only be enforced for a limited amount of time. Some states permit no more than thirty days without new criminal charges, some permit as long as ninety days, with or without new criminal charges.
