It takes as long as it takes. There is no time limit set by statute. In many states all parties involved in the petitioners original offense must be contacted and asked for their input on whether the expungement should be granted or not, and occasionally this takes court hearings to iron out. It is NOT a simple or easy process

*There is also something called Expedited Criminal Database Update(ECDU), which is sometimes needed if you want your expungement to take the effect immediately(sometimes it takes up to a year for them to update your record).
