How many serial killers are on the loose in America?

Somewhere around 175 to 200. Over eighty of those killers were females. I'm not sure where that information came from but I suspect it is not correct. That is saying women commit over 40% of serial murders. White male are responsible for over 80% of all the serial murders.

Many actually! you can check on familywatchdog.us or Google 'serial killers in usa' you will get a list of government sites that you can put your address or area code and you can find people's pictures, their names and addresses, and offences in your area! Im pretty sure you can find information and statistics! These websites are helpful when looking to move to a new area! The FBI reports somewhere between 30-50 active serial killers on the loose at any given time in the U.S. Most of these serial killers aren't even known because they kill transients and such who won't be missed (And most times won't even be noticed missing) by the general populous.

Generally less than one active one.

Serial killers tend to have a 'spree' which doesn't last long. Taking all the seiral killers there have been, and calculating how long they functioned for, it probably doesn't add up to more than one killing in a week, since the term became commonplace.

First, De Salvo was not the Boston strangler. He was not linked to the crimes and did not serve for those crimes. DNA and other forensic evidence suggests Albert DeSalvo, wasn't involved with the 1964 murder of Mary Sullivan believed to be the 11th victim of the Boston Strangler.

Then we have 10 years of murder, 300 hundred women and girls dead. No credible arrests. An unidentified serial killer preyed on 4 California coastal communities from 1979 to 1986 murdering 10 people. These crimes spanned 3 counties and 4 law enforcement jurisdictions. DNA links 6 murders; the Method of Operation links the other 4.

From 1975 - 1990, at least a dozen young women were the victims of unsolved homicides in the New Haven, CT area. Authorities believe 7 may have been killed by one man.

New Mexico, Washington, Florida, Texas and New York have a serial killer if it is only one alone. But we can't say so. The authorities can't estimate the number of serial killers at large no matter what you read. I believe that in the US alone, around 1,500 serial killers are at large and it took a lot reading to come to that conclusion. I also came to the conclusion that about 300 serial killers died without being apprehended.
