Nine
The ninth state to approve the U.S. Constitution was New Hampshire. It ratified the Constitution on June 21, 1788, which was crucial for the document to become effective, as it required the approval of at least nine states. New Hampshire's ratification completed the necessary threshold for the Constitution to be enacted.
The Constitutional Convention of 1787 required approval from nine out of the thirteen states for the new Constitution to go into effect. This requirement was established in Article VII of the Constitution. Ultimately, the Constitution was ratified by the necessary nine states by June 1788, allowing it to be enacted.
Atleast 9 of 13 states had to approve the original constitution before it could be ratified. Currently all states approve the US constitution (because they are technically bound by it). The states 'ratified' it after 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention 'adopted' it (Sept. 17, 1787). For the Constitution to be ratified, 9 of the 13 states had to ratify it. New Hampshire on June 21, 1788 was the 9th state. Within a month Virginia and New York followed. North Carolina (1790) and Rhode Island (1791) ratified after Washington became President (1789).
According to the constitution to ratify the constitution: nine of the old 13 states needed to approve it, it became the law. On June 21, 1788 New Hampshire was the last state to ratify the constitution.
To ratify the United States Constitution, nine out of the thirteen original states were required to approve it. This threshold was established to ensure a sufficient level of support for the new framework of government. The ratification process took place between 1787 and 1788, with the ninth state, New Hampshire, ratifying the Constitution on June 21, 1788, allowing it to take effect.
At least nine states.
No it adopted the new jersey plan!
amendment
The total of nine states had to approve the Constitution to make it "the law of the land."
You didn't even phrase that as a question, it was a statement with a question mark at the end of it. Did you mean "Did all thirteen COLONIES have to approve the Constitution?" The answer is no, and some did not in time anyway.
