How many steps to make a law?

There are a total of 9 steps:

1) a member will write the bill. 2) the bill will be sent to a subcommittee. 3) if it survives there it will go to the full committee. 4) if its approved there, it will be sent to the House Rules Committee. 5) if its approved there then it will go to the full House. 6) if its approved there, then it will go to the senate. 7) floor leaders in the Senate will have to approve it. 8) Then if there are any difference between the House version and the Senate then it will have to go to the Conference Committee. 9)then to the president

It usually depends on the law. Usually it is introduced to congress and if the majority votes yes it is sent to the senate if they vote yes then it is sent to the president. The president can either approve or veto it. If the bill is vetoed congress can still override it but they would need 2/3 votes. if it is overridden you have a law. If the president approves it then... you still have a law.
