salaries differ greatly. Other than an associate, there is no standard. An associate in a medium-sized city can start anywhere from 70 to 100K per year. Partners can make several times that amount. It really boils down to how much money the attorney can generate for their firm. The more hours they bill, the more they get paid. Trial lawyers can sometimes earn one third of what their client is awarded. But to do this, they must forego their hourly rate, so it's only worth it if they win the case.
