Depending on whether or not you hurt the person and how severely you hurt them makes a big difference. About 15-40. Example: you shot at someone and completely missed them-15 years. U paralyze them for life 40. This may or may not be 100% accurate.

If you intend to shoot the person. You might as well kill them. If you cannot kill them, don't pull a gun on them. If i ever have to come to that extreme, you better believe I'm prepared to spend a looong time in jail for it. Bottom line, if you pull a gun on someone, you better intend to use it.

In my state, if you shoot someone in self defense, you probably won't do any time in prison, although you may spend the night in a detective's office downtown. If you shoot someone and it isn't self defense and the person doesn't die, you may be charged with aggravated assault, and if found guilty you will probably do 1-5 years in prison. If you are charged with murder and are found guilty, you will probably do 5 years or more, up to life, in prison.
