California Law requires all children who are 6 years of age or less and weigh less than 60 pounds to be transported in a Child Restraint System. Anyone older or weighs more than that is allowed to sit in front. Now I am only talking about California. I don't know globally. But IMO, what is good for CA is good federally.
Thanks
Weight and not size determines when they are able to ride in the front. One of the problems with front seats for a child is the front airbags. The airbags have hurt children because they are smaller and lighter in weight than an adult.
A child should not sit in the front but a tween (Atween is a person the ages of 11-12) can sit in the front as long as the tween is over 80 pounds.
Children are generally recommended to sit in the back seat until they are at least 13 years old, as this is considered the safest position in a vehicle. Before moving to the front seat, they should also meet the height and weight requirements for the vehicle's seat belt and airbag system. It's important to follow local laws and guidelines regarding child passenger safety, as these can vary by region. Always prioritize safety features and the child's development when making this decision.
During hard braking, inertia would cause the weight of the vehicle to shift forward towards the front wheels. This is because the momentum of the vehicle is being slowed down, leading to a weight transfer from the rear wheels to the front wheels.
In Arkansas, a child can sit in the front seat of a vehicle when they are at least 6 years old and weigh at least 60 pounds.
the weight for sitting in the front in for in Virginia is 80 pounds
It doesn't matter about the weight or height. For safety the child should be fifteen or older.

It is not a matter of weight so much as age. Children should be 13 years or older to be in the front seat
The minimum height and weight requirements for a child to sit in the front passenger seat of a motor vehicle vary by state or country. In general, many guidelines suggest that children should be at least 4 feet 9 inches tall and weigh around 80 pounds to safely use a regular seat belt. Additionally, it's recommended that children under the age of 13 sit in the back seat for optimal safety. Always refer to local laws and vehicle manufacturer guidelines for specific requirements.
In Tennessee, children must be at least 13 years old to sit in the front seat of a vehicle. Additionally, they must be properly secured in a seat belt. It's important to note that while weight isn't specified for the front seat, children should use an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat based on their age, weight, and height until they meet the requirements for using a standard seat belt safely. Always consult local laws and guidelines for the most accurate information.
