It depends on the financial state and career level of the employee being fired, but it is nearly always very stressful. Even for someone who has the money and ability to rebound quickly, the emotional stress of getting fired (the humiliation, anger, etc.) is significant. And, for someone with financial difficulties to add to the mix, it's even worse.

Still, nearly everyone gets fired at least once in their career, so it's something most people end up getting through in the end.
