You can move out once you're 18; many young people are anxious to get out and get started...on their own terms and rules. Public schools will give you until you are 21 to finish high school. I suggest that you plan and read before you take this step, so that you are solvent. Having a high school diploma (or GED)and money (income & savings) really helps. Our son just left 6 months ago and we have had to help him to the tune of several thousand dollars for car repairs and food that he didn't plan on. I'd think that most parents won't be able to help at that level. I suggest that you have a good, dependable, job that will pay for rent/food/gas/fun/insurance; money saved for an overdraft account of $2000 so you can avoid overdraft charges while you are learning to handle money; a dependable car, hopefully paid for or plan to live on a busline, and so on. Like any other life change, it is easier in the long run to have some finite parts of your life in place. Look at websites for information on planning for this move. I suggest MSN Money. A lot depends on the state that you live in. In some places the age of majority depends on a combination of age and the status of your high school education. Parents are not specifically required to provide education, housing and support past the age of 18. In June you will be an adult so it is your choice to make that decision. If your parents do not like your decision they cannot do anything about it, they cannot report you as a runaway since you will be an adult by that time.

Do you have to stay in the house if you are in high school?

In general, children under 18 or who are still in high school are not quite "people", legally speaking. They are under the care of their parents or legal guardians, who are required to provide for them and in return get to "be the boss of" them. So, if you're still in high school and your parents say you have to remain in the house, then you pretty much have to remain in the house.

You can move out of your parents' house if you get their permission to do so. Because you are still a minor, you will still require your parents' support even after moving out. Anyone under 18 cannot accrue credit in their own name, making it nearly impossible to find housing.
