It doesn't sound like a bank's typical answer, you are not liable for the vehicle after the discharge of the bankruptcy, however since the bank still holds the title, they will probably write off the debt. You can request that they (the bank) put their intentions in writing, however I doubt that will happen. You may want to research different ways of getting a clear title from the BMV, it the bank truly wants nothing to do with the vehicle, you can go through the proper channels and if its not disputed, you can possibly end up with the title.
