If you were married in a foreign country and did not receive any documentation what is needed to legally marry someone else in the US?

It would be helpful if you divorced that person you married in the foreign country because your new marriage would not be legal in the event you should die, your new wife would not be entitled to your estate (if you have one). Legal marriages performed outside the US are generally recognized as legal. However, the US has no jurisdiction over domestic issues in other countries. That being the case, if the person has the documentation required by the state in which they wish to marry and is permitted to marry then said marriage would be legal within the US regardless of the person's marital status outside of US jurisdiction. Please be advised, all US states reserve the right to refuse an application for a marriage license.
