In South Carolina if you paying child support and your child is 18 and he or she quits school do you still have to pay child support?

In SC it really depends on what kind of mood the judge is in, and how good your attorney is. I believe they look at the parents salaries, whether the 17 year old still lives in the home and whether the 17 year old has a job or not. They can always find some kind of loop hole in the law to make you continue to pay until the child is 18.

Generally, the obligation ends when the child reaches 18 years of age or the child graduates from high school, whichever occurs later. A child will also automatically be ineligible for child support if that child is removed from disability status by a court order. see link

If you owe backpay or the judge has ordered support to an older age (because they are attending college) then yes you still owe it. Your obligation continues until ALL backpay is caught up and paid in full.
