A barrister is a type lawyer.

Some legal systems such as in Great Britain, and other countries and places, have two types of lawyers. A solicitor who generally deals with clients who need legal help and litigation and a barrister who is allowed to discuss legal issues in front of a court. There is some overlap depending on the legal system in an individual jurisdiction.

How do you become a barrister lawyer?

You go to university and study law. You take the course for how ever many years it is until you get your degree. Then you look for a job as a barrister lawyer and you have the right qualifications, so you have the chance of getting it, otherwise you have pretty much no chance at all.

Can a barrister be sued?

Yes but not because of a decision they made based on their job. They can be sued for something they did outside of their line of work although it will be an uphill battle to win though because they are usually well known by the other barristers. If you disagree with a barristers decision, you will want to follow an appeals process instead.
