No it is technically not illegal for them to be home alone, since the one of them is over 16 it is considered a babysitting job in the eyes of the state.

Leaving your child alone for that long isn't illegal. It is the parents opinion to gauge weather your 14 year old kid can keep your 6 year old safe and sound for 3 days. Truthfully I wouldn't leave them alone. If anything happens to them there is a good possibility that you could be charged with endangerment of a minor in my view. But no.
