Is it illegal to post somebody's photo on Facebook without his or her permission?

Usually not unless the picture is of a sensitive nature such as being naked, etc. Just look at sites such as facebook, myspace, etc. Everyone in every picture has not given written or verbal consent to have their pictures uploaded.

If the pictures were taken where there was no expectation of privacy, large groups -outdoor scene - in a crowd - etc) yes. Otherwise it gets more sticky and you could be liable for an accusation of invasion of privacy.

It depends on the context I, suppose. If it's like just your friend taking a pic just for the hell of it, it'll be hard to make that a legal issue. If it's someone you don't know, it borderlines creepy, and if you tell them to stop and they keep doing it, it borderlines stalker and harrasement. If someone's posting pics on the internet of you without permission, I hear you can actually get a lawyer for that if you ask them to take it down and they won't.

If you are in a public setting, then it is perfectly legal. The only times when it would illegal in a public place would be if you are in the bathroom or at a hospital. Otherwise, there is really nothing you can do about it.

No, it's not illegal. It would be good if you got their permission in case they didn't want there photo on the Internet for people to see. Otherwise, no, it's not. :)

Partially yes and partially no. It depends on what type of photo. If you put one of their PERSONAL photos on the internet and you do not have their permission, that person can sue you.
