Anyone who meets the basic federal guidelines and state requirements where they live can carry a gun. If the debtor (the one that he's trying to get the car from) sees the gun prior to the car being repossessed and it was not because the repo man was defending himself, it makes the repossession unlawful. Carrying the gun wouldn't be unlawful but it makes the repo unlawful. It is called undue duress. Judges LOVE making repo companies and lenders pay big for such violations of the FDCPA. If you carry, get a concealed carry permit and carry it concealed.
Added: The poster who answered this question is wrong. Florida statute 463.6115 prohibits any person who is licensed as a Repossession agent from carrying a weapon.

∙ 12y agoRepo agents are NOT Law Enforcement Officers. Their right to bear arms is the same as any other concealed-carry-qualified citizen of the the state.
I often wonder where this type of question comes from. The law, is the law is the law.
The first answer is absolutely correct so far as it goes.
Carrying a firearm while acting as a repossession agent is just about a sure ticket, eventually, for jail or prison.
If a repossession agent is prohibited from disturbing the peace during the course of a repossession, and they are, then what would make you believe that the agent would have any "right" over and above that of any other citizen when trying to effectuate a repossession? They don't; all "reality" shows to the contrary are bs.

∙ 12y agoOnly if they can otherwise carry a firearm. Being a repo man does not, in and of itself mean you can carry a firearm. Many repo agents get carry permits or register themselves as bounty hunters.
