Is the executive branch more powerful than the judicial branch?

The Legislative Branch is not the most powerful. All three branches of government are equal in power. -- According to the Checks and Balances, all three banches hold difference powers over each other, so no one branch can be more powerful. The Judicial branch matters because we need the court systems, also because of the Judicial Review: This allows the judicial branch to decide if the law that congress is passing is constitutional or unconstitutional.

No. The legislature is the most powerful because they make the law. The judiciary branch merely interprets it.

EDIT: Actually, some believe that the Judicial branch is the most powerful as they have the final say in the law. When a case comes to the Supreme Court that will interpret the Constitution, the ruling on that case will set a precedence for future cases.

I assume you allude to the three branches of governance; the legislature, executive and judiciary? Technically, the three branches--including the legislative branch--should be of equal strength. It's called the separation of powers, ensuring that no single form of governance holds undue power (and, therefore, prompting the creation of a Dictatorship).

However, in reality, the legislative can quite likely be the most powerful. It forms the backbone of the judiciary, creating its laws, and is the basis to the executive (ministers of government).

And, I've just seen that this topic is in the US Constitution. I'm Australian. I don't doubt it's quite similar in the States...but the usefulness of my comment is probably a little reduced now. Haha.

Absolutely not. It was stated in Federalist 78 that the Juidiciary is the weakest branch because it has "neither force now will." This is because it doesn't have control over the "sword or the purse".
