This is a very touchy area, because it is an annulment, there are different requirements than a divorce and because verbal abuse is a subjective and hard to prove form of abuse. Verbal abuse can range from shouting curses to almost silent nonverbal threats against one's life. The difficult thing is proving it, most of the time it comes down to "he said she said", which just increases the stress on the marriage. Try to make sure you have some type of proof, recordings, and witnesses, besides your close family members, (neighbors, co-workers, postal worker). As to the annulment, alot of times that is up to the church in which you were married and the law. I suggest you check with an attorney in you area to find out if your area would require both the church and the courts involvement for an annulment, and if you can't afford an attorney, try Legal Aid, they can help. But protect yourself, lots of times abuse esclates from one form to another. Be careful. Good Luck. There are hot-lines for abuse, they are there to help you, don't forget.

You try to discuss the issue calmly and set new ground rules, so to speak. But if this fails, especially over and over, it may mean that you are involved with an abuser, and usually they don't change.
I really don't know the answer to that. Sorry!
It is Verbal and Physical abuse. Verbal Abuse is considered with the swearing while the physical is the slapping.

No, but using threatening language is an offence.
Verbal communication uses words. Non-verbal communication are the ways we communicate without words, such as smiling, gesturing, and touching. Things like e-mail and SMS are considered verbal communication, because they use words, even though the words are written rather than spoken. This question and answer is therefore a form of verbal communication.
Text is a written form of communication, while verbal communication involves speaking or using words. While text can be read aloud by an individual, it is not typically considered verbal communication because it is in written form.
Communication itself is not considered to be a human activity. The verbal and nonverbal methods humans use are considered the human activity.
