I had a collector harrassing me so I was ready for him when I returned his call with a digital recorder in hand. I simply played dumb and let him hang himself by violating the fair debt collections act several times. I acted stupid and scared to death and he took advantage of that and said he would call my job, he knew where my sisters and parents lived, to which I asked..."What are you going to do to them", He said"Pay your debt and you wont have to wory about it now will you? He asked if I was just plan stupid or what? All the while I had the recorder catching every word! The next day I called the company and played the recording for the person who answered and asked if she could please connect me with the president of the company's office. She did, I played the recording for her assistant who then put the president on and after listening ask "Sir...What do you want? I said My debt they had harrassed me about paid in full, $1000.00 and the man fired who I had recorded so some poor person who didn't know better would not lay awake worrying over him making the same type threats. That afternoon at 4 oclock I picked up a check for 1000.00 a paid in full reciept for the dept and an assurrance that as of 20 minutes ago the employee no longer was with the company! This is America folks! Don't let these jerks bully you around. Go to Walmart and by a 15.00 recorder.
