1st offense shoplifting: Misdemeanor charge, less than $20 fine, possibly over $100 court fee, and less than $50 value is $50 restitution to the store or equal to the value if over $50. Plus, no trespassing is allowed on property of store. If this is violated you can and will be arrested for trespassing.

ADDED: Depending on the jurisdiction and at what dollar level the separation between misdemeanor and felony is set by statute . . . if the amount stolen was less than that amount it will be classified as a misdemnanor, above that level it will be a felony charge.

it really depends on how old you are.

i was arrested for shoplifting and I'm only 14.

they put me in handcuffs, walked me in front of people i knew in the mall, take you to a holding cell while they contact your parent(s) and then you are taken to a juvinille center. sometimes you can stay DAYS.

please, be careful. its horrible.

now i am required to go to tutoring, counseling, and complete tons of community service.
