An oligarchy is "a government in which power is in the hands of a few."
This philosophy is called representative democracy. It emphasizes a system where government authority is limited by a constitution, and elected representatives make decisions on behalf of the people who elect them.
Sadly, many people saw them as less than human at the time, giving them the false impression that they were justified in their actions. On top of that, there was no centralized government to protest on their behalf.

Representative government
In parliament, people, also known as Members of Parliament, debate and vote on proposed laws and policies. They also raise issues of concern on behalf of their constituents, scrutinize the government's actions, and hold the government accountable for its decisions. Additionally, parliamentarians may participate in committees to examine specific issues in more detail.
