There are differing opinions concerning Bundy's early life. It is safe to say that his earlier years were not exactly typical. Born to an unwed mother in the 1940's, Bundy was under the impression that Louise (birth mother) was his sister and his grandparents were his parents. It is also believed that Louise's father, Sam, had a cruel streak and bad temper that could surface at times. Yet while Bundy's childhood was not conventional, it was a far cry from other killers who suffered horrible neglect and physical and sexual abuse almost daily. Charles Manson is a perfect example. It is probably safe to say that serial killers are partly born, partly created, or a product of 'nature and nurture'.
