What are advantage and dis advantage of having death penalty in our country?

The disadvantages of capital punishment are

* Execution is often more costly for the state than life imprisonment would be, due to the appeals process

* It can cause emotional distress for family members of the offenders and sometimes even the family of the victims.

* It erodes the moral high ground on which greater society is claimed to sit.

This is a question that can be answered by many people in many ways.

My Humble Opinion.

For the Death Penalty?

Revenge! They killed or caused the death of someone I know, and I want them to die.

That's probably the ultimate answer.

Against the Death Penalty.

It takes 10, 15, 20 years to have someone put to death. Some states are faster, some slower, some, not at all.

It costs more to put someone to death, then to keep them in prison till they die of natural causes, or are released when they are 75 or older and no longer a threat to society.

The current people on 'Death Row' will be there for years, because it turns out the drugs that they use, and probably illegally brought into the U.S. from overseas. That in itself is a nice twist, They must break the law to kill someone legally.

LOL... all the way to the grave.

Revenge for some people outweighs the monetary costs.

Personally, I prefer to have them locked up "Forever", but I've never had a loved one kidnapped or raped or murdered.

It seems that most atheists prefer lock up, and most fundamental christians prefer revenge. Life is strange, ain't it.
