The Fifth Amendment covers many rights to people accused of crimes.

The Fifth amendment covers: Grand Juries, double jeopardy and the protection of private property. A clause of the Amendment gives rise to the right against self-incrimination. The relevant portion follows: "No person shall… be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law…"

This gives rise to the Miranda warnings which includes the protections of the Fifth and Sixth Amendments. It is also related to the search and seizure and warrant requirements of the Fourth Amendment. None of these stand alone. See the related links below for further discussion.
