The State in which the child resides.
Live in ny my child lives in s.c. When he is 18 does child support stops or do i go by ny laws and what should i do
child support stops at age 21 in NY
see related question
Your ex-spouse can only change your child's last name if they have sole custody. If that is not true, then you should talk to a lawyer about getting an injunction.
Nope, 21 is the limit in NY.
it depends on your custody papers and what they say... if you have joint custody NO.... if you have residential custody maybe with court allowing it.... if you have sole custody then you would need to inform him but you could leave!!!
This is an issue which should have been addressed in the original support agreement. If there is no stipulation as to how support should be administered when the children are with you. You are still obligated. You can however, have the order modified to read, that when you have physical custody the set payments at that particular time be used for the children's benefit.
A divorce does not effect child support. Also, usually child support stops when the child turns 18.
In my case, the amount of child support was determined by the state which filed the divorce/custody/support proceedings. My daughter lives with her father in New York, yet Florida has jurisdiction because that is where the original proceedings were filed. When she lived with me, Florida also dictated how much he was to pay me...even though he lived in NY.
Child support is paid to support a child and not an adult, so it is a shame that you are even asking this question.
