Proponents argue that allowing naturalized citizens to become president promotes inclusivity and reflects the diverse nature of society, enabling those who have demonstrated commitment to the country to lead. Critics contend that the presidency should be reserved for natural-born citizens to ensure a deeper, inherent loyalty to the nation, rooted in a historical context. Additionally, some fear that naturalized citizens may have allegiances to their countries of origin that could conflict with national interests. Overall, the debate centers on balancing national unity with the principles of democracy and equality.
No
No- naturalized citizens are not qualified to be President, according to the US Constitution. To be president, the person must be born in the USA. So, yes, they must be a citizen to be president but a natural, not a naturalizedcitizen.
Naturalized citizens are NOT eligible to become president or vice president. : ) Love Forever & Always, Kassidy.
They are not able to run for President, or hold the office of President.
because they aren't real Americans
35 years. Presidential candidates must be natural born citizens. Naturalized citizens cannot be president.
Only a native born citizen can become the President of the US.
The U.S. Constitution states that naturalized citizens can not run for the office of President. It is the only office that must be held by a natural-born American citizen.
Naturalized citizens must apply for citizenship.
They cannot become President. FLVS :)
It is a basic Constitutional law. It keeps foreigners from getting elected President. It is somewhat unfair to naturalized citizens, but much of life is unfair and everything has costs. Losing the opportunity to rule is one of the prices naturalized citizens have to pay for giving up their natural citizenship.
I would say that changing the law for one person doesn't make sense. If we believe that naturalized citizens in general deserve that chance, then we should change the law, and if not, we shouldn't. Changing it for one guy seems like it would have unintended consequences.
