This means requirements to be in S.W.A.T. vary from department to department as each agencies police employment requirements vary. There is also an oral interview with a variety of questions asked by current S.W.A.T. members.
Many smaller agencies will combine their resources to make a regional response team, and i is very common for S.W.A.T. officers to work regular patrol and then get called out to respond if needed. The cot of maintaining thee special teams can range up into the millions, which is the reasons that many agencies will opt to not have a officer just dedicated to S.W.A.T.
