At autopsy Dahmer's brain was photoed, x-rayed, catscanned and much more. It was then removed from the skull, sliced into sections and examined under microscope and almost every test possible was done with the tissue. Samples were taken and preserved as the rest of the brain in case further study is needed.

As with most criminals like Dahmer, it was noted that there were abnormalities to the frontal lobes of the brain. Scientists don't understand the significance of this yet but it is common for violent criminals to have these abnormalities.
