Electors.

Once chosen, they represent their respective states as members of the Electoral College. The Electoral College elects the president and vice president.

The US. Constitution specifies the number of electors that each state may have.

However, each state's legislature is responsible for deciding, within constitutional guidelines, the manner in which its electors are to be chosen. Party membership or affiliation is not necessarily a requirement.
