The Model United Nations is a model version of the United Nations, joined and run by a string of international schools. Students gather weekly in their individual schools and choose a country to represent, and they debate on the best solution for certain international issues, based on the country that they are representing. Debates are almost always guided by a teacher or supervisor to make sure that they stay on topic. It's a afterschool activity that involves a lot of research and patience and a passion for international issues. Every year, they combine with other international schools involved in the MUN program and have a massive debate. The MUN explores a number of areas in international politics. Some subjects that they have been researching are: * Russia and Georgia * Trade of Small Arms * International Protection of Journalists * Genocide in Sudan * International Perspectives - how they are effecting the states today
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences, which is usually organized by a high school or college MUN club.
