A capital crime is one which usually involve severe body harm like murder. An infamous crime on the other hand refers to one which gains notoriety for some reason but may not result in anyone being prosecuted or executed.

As a practical matter however, in todays society there is less stigma attached to the vehicle offense than to the criminal offense.
