Smart is something one can become. It is more a categoric term for someone of whom posseses natural intelligence, who may have used natural, intellectual ability to their advantage. This is known as being 'smart'.
In comparisson with intelligence, we could say that this is again, a natural ability possessed in varying levels, by different individuals.
It is just a difference in that some may harvest their natural, often high intelligence, to become 'smart'.

There is street smart and book smart. Some people are very good at school subjects but hopeless in real life. It is good to have some of each type of smart.
