There is no time limit set by the constitution. Bills can be passed within a few days or take months or a year, or may have to be re-proposed during the next Congress. Generally, more important bills or bills more likely to be passed are put earlier on the schedules of each house than other rather unimportant or unpopular bills. The majority party of each house is responsible for the schedule.

In Barbados, the process of passing a law involves several key steps. First, a proposed law, or bill, is drafted and introduced in either the House of Assembly or the Senate. The bill undergoes multiple readings and debates in both houses, where it may be amended. If approved by both houses, the bill is then sent to the Governor-General for royal assent, after which it becomes law.

In the United States, a bill is signed into law by the President. After a bill has been approved by both houses of Congress— the House of Representatives and the Senate— it is sent to the President for approval. The President can either sign the bill into law, allow it to become law without a signature, or veto it, which Congress can override with a two-thirds majority in both houses.
If a bill has been signed and approved by both houses, it goes to the president. The president then can veto (reject) it or sign it (then it becomes a law). If the president vetos the bill, then Congress can override the veto with a 2/3rds vote majority passing the bill in both houses. If this occurs, the bill becomes a law.
After a bill is approved it is printed by the Government Printing Office (GPO). ~Kevin
