No. While there ARE state laws in Oregon that regulate possession, sales, and use of airguns, they are not firearms. From the Oregon State Code, under definitions:
(3) "Firearm" means a weapon, by whatever name known, which is designed to expel a projectile by the action of powder and which is readily capable of use as a weapon.
Note that airguns do not have powder.
The best places to buy BB guns or Pellet guns are Canadian tire, some Walmarts, most tsc stores. But if you have a shop in your town that would be the best place. Ps. DO NOT BUY CHEAP BB GUNS OR PELLET GUNS
There are BB guns and there are Pellet guns. BB guns are not as powerful as pellet guns. BB gun can only fire a .175 caliber BB at a maximum of around 500 FPS. Pellet guns can fire a .177 pellet over 1200 FPS. The most powerful class of Pellet guns and Rifles are PCP's (PreCharged Pneumatic) air guns. These require a special pump or Scuba tank to charge them to 3000 PSI and can fire up to a 50 Caliber slug. Capable of bringing down a full size deer. Pellet guns are much more accurate and powerful than BB guns. If you want a powerful BB gun then I suggest a multy pump BB rifle.
In most cases it will be a BB gun. But Pellet guns exceed both the BB and the airsoft guns. Pellet guns can attain speeds over 1200 FPS.
Actually a BB gun is an air gun. But an air gun also includes pellet guns and rifles. BB guns are the bottom end of the air gun family. Pellet guns are more accurate than BB guns and they usually cost more.
Pellet guns are more powerful. They are stronger because they use a CO2 Gas, whil BB guns are spring-powered.
If you are asking about airguns in general not just BB guns, but Pellet guns also. The family of PCP air guns. (Precharged Pneumatic Guns (PCPs) these use a scuba tank to charge the rifle. They can shoot up to a 50 cal bullet and bring down a Moose. As for BB guns alone most will fall into the under 500 feet per second group. Where Pellet rifles can exceed 1000 feet per second. BB guns/rifles are not as accurate as pellet guns/rifles. Because BB guns use a smooth boar barrel where pellet guns use rifling in the barrel.
Some BB guns are designed to shoot BB and pellets, but not all BB guns shoot pellets. The ones that shoot both usually can shoot several BB without reloading but only shoot a single pellet at a time and you have to reload each pellet between each shot.
If you are asking strictly about BB guns and not rifles, pellet guns or pellet rifles then I would have to say it most likely is the "IZH-Baikal Drozd BB Gun." It fires at a rate of 541 feet per second. It will fire 1, 3 or 6 shot burst at the pull of the trigger. However Pellet guns and Pellet Rifles are more powerful.
All BB guns are alot less in (Strong) than Pellet guns. BB guns are luckey if they can attain 600 FPS (feet Per Second) Pellet guns & rifles can attain 1450 FPS. The fastest and most powerful BB gun I know of is the IZH Baikal Drozd that fires at 541 FPS. The Evanix AR6 Pellet rifles fires at 1450 FPS.
In general, BB guns are smoothbore, and the barrel is larger than the steel BB. Pellets guns are rifled, and fire a lead pellet that is a squeeze fit to the bore. This is MUCH more accurate than a BB. GOOD pellet guns are more accurate than firearms, within their usable range. I have one pellet rifle that will put pellet after pellet into the same hole in the target at 10 meters.
Many. BB guns, pellet guns, airsoft guns, etc.
Lets clear a few things up first: (1) There are BB only guns. (2) Combination BB and Pellet guns and (3) Pellet only guns. (1) BB only guns: These guns and rifles have a smooth bore barrel. The BB tumbles as it is fired from the gun. The BB can wonder off target easily because it doesn't spin, so it travels all over the place. (2) BB & Pellet rifles and guns: These guns usually have a rifled bore barrel. (Groves in the barrel) this makes the soft Pellets spin as it is fired and will fly straighter than a hard BB fired from the same barrel. (3) Pellet only guns & rifles: These guns use a rifled bore barrel and are designed to spin the pellet as it is fired. As a result it travels further and straighter that a BB. Of the 3 different types, Pellet only guns are usually the most powerful. BB's are .175 Caliber and made of a hard material. Pellets are .177 caliber and are made of a softer material. The skirt, on the back of the pellet, is designed to catch the grooves in the barrel, in turn this makes the pellet spin as it leaved the barrel and fly straighter. Pellets fired through a smooth bore BB barrel will not effect the gun or rifle but BB's fired through a Pellet only gun will damage the groves over time and destroy the accuracy of the gun or rifle. The Heaver the pellet mass, the slower it will fly, but the straighter it will fly and have more knock-down power than a light pellet.
