My understanding is that it usually means to allow something/someone to proceed with some act which previously had been barred (not allowed) either by law or judicial decree (a judge's ruling/order). But if this is regarding the recent same-sex ruling, it is my opinion that this matter will reach the U.S. Supreme Court to end the issue once and for all.

of Lift
Lift
Lift on an airplanes wing is what makes it stay in the air. Of course, lift diminishes the slower you go so eventually the plane will lose lift and begin to fall.
I am going to assume that aeroplane=airplane when I answer this. An airplane stays in the air by generating lift on its wings. As long as an airplane can generate sufficent lift it can stay in the air. However once the lift being generated falls below what is required for the plane to stay up... uh oh.
stay on the line
Planes stay up in the air due to the lift generated by their wings as they move through the air. The shape of the wings creates a pressure difference between the top and bottom surfaces, causing the plane to be pushed upward. This lift force counteracts the force of gravity, allowing the plane to stay airborne.
It has exactly the came meaning but lift it's used in UK and elevator in USA.
