There is no easy answer to this question. EVERYTHING depends on the caliber, speed and size of the round being fired at you, versus the mass and type of metal you are protected with. Heavyweight aluminum may deflect a small (i.e.- .22 cal) round through which a slightly larger round (i.e.- .38 cal) may easily pass through. And so on all the way to the massive armor on tanks. It's all a matter of proportion and being protected with something that is strong enough to be portable balanced against the threat you are likely to face. In other words, there truly are NO bulletproof metals.
