First off it isn't "animal murder", you will never find the name "animal murder" in any law books because it doesn't exist. Secondly, so long as the animal wasn't tortured, it is generally not a crime. Without slaughtering animals, there could be no meat, no leather, the explosion in animal populations would result in many animals being killed by starvation or roadkill, it would become unfeasible for anyone to have pets without paying tons of money to keep a pet on life support, etc.
