Contrary to popular belief, warrants do not expire. The only way to make the warrant go away is to appear in court or somehow have the charges thrown out.

The statute of limitations is the time period that prosecutors have to bring criminal charges against someone. Murder has no statute of limitations. Assault might only have 1 or 2 years, so if you were assaulted and didn't press charges for 2 years, for example, then you can never press charges.

Warrants are a different matter because warrants are issued after the prosecution filed charges. The judge issues the warrant and they _never_ expire.
