there has been accounts of agony during death of an inmate by electrocution, lethal injecton and the gas chamber. Incidents were miscalculations or errors in all three methods have been the cause of prolonged agony to the inmate. The most humane instrument used in history for the capital punishment has been the guillotine wich would cut off the head of the inmate quickly with no time for agony. The problem was that it was grotesque and the blood in the street produced much stench.

there have also been problems with the guillotine such as: cleaning, dull blade, and mechanical malfunctions.
