Bankruptcy Courts have a huge amount of power given to them by the Bankruptcy laws.

The Judge applies these powers as needed to resolve the case.

Especially if there are murky areas, he may sometimes need to interpret the laws. He does not make the law, and where the law is clearly written, there can be little dispute.

If you do not feel his interpretation is correct, you can appeal to another Judge/Court for them to decide it.
